Guowei Zhang

Guowei Zhang is a PhD candidate at Monash University (Faculty of Information Technology). He received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) from UNSW Sydney and his Master of Data Science from The University of Sydney. His research focuses on medical computer vision and neuroimaging, with an emphasis on generative modeling for learning and synthesizing clinically and scientifically meaningful visual representations.

My research lies at the intersection of computer vision, neuroimaging, and generative AI models. I develop AI methods that learn from neuroimaging data and leverage modern generative modeling to synthesize meaningful visual representations. A central goal of my work is to bridge AI with biological structure, designing models that are informed by how the brain is organized to improve interpretability, robustness, and scientific relevance.
